Big Y Earns Third Consecutive 'Most Trustworthy' Honor from Newsweek

For the third consecutive year, Big Y has been named one of America’s Most Trustworthy Companies by Newsweek. The Springfield, Massachusetts-based grocer was named in the Grocery & Convenience Stores category and cited for its ethical business practices, employee satisfaction, and customer loyalty.

The annual survey, developed in partnership with market research firm Statista, ranks 700 companies across 23 industries based on a survey of 25,000 U.S. residents and an analysis of more than 300,000 online mentions.

Operating throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut, Big Y has more than 10,000 employees. The company has been recognized by Forbes as a Best-in-State Employer in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and in 2023, by Newsweek’s America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity and for Women.

Founded in 1936 by brothers Paul and Gerald D'Amour, the store was named after an intersection in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where two roads converge to form a "Y."
