Amazon planning Whole Foods benefits for Prime members

5/3/2018

Amazon is bringing the “might” of its membership program to the grocery industry, according to a report by CNBC that stated Amazon is planning new Whole Foods Market benefits for its Prime members.

Whole Foods will begin offering Amazon Prime members an additional 10 percent off of already discounted products, sources told CNBC, which also reported that about 75 percent of Whole Foods shoppers are Amazon Prime members, but less than 20 percent of Amazon Prime members are Whole Foods shoppers.

Amazon will fold Whole Foods into a network that other grocers will struggle to compete with, the report said. Amazon vendors will receive “special access” it its vast shopper base, according to CNBC.
