Aldi Opens New Stores In Illinois, Michigan

The new locations are the latest in the grocer's on-going expansion efforts.

Aldi on June 6 opened new stores in Plainfield, Ill., and Alpena, Mich.

Plainfield, Ill., and Alpena, Mich., are the latest communities that now have access to new Aldi stores.

The Plainfield store is being relocated to 13843 S. Route 59 from its previous location at 13550 N. Division St. Residents of the Northern Michigan community of Alepna will have access to their first Aldi store at 1051 Crittenden Ct.  

Both stores celebrated their respective grand opening on Thursday, June 6, and the new locations will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The first 100 customers at each store’s opening received a gift bag filled with a sampling of Aldi Fan Favorites products and a gift card as part of the Aldi Golden Ticket gift card giveaway program. Shoppers are also eligible to enter a sweepstakes during the Grand Opening weekend from June 6 through June 9 for a chance to win a $500 Aldi gift card.

“We are eager to provide local shoppers with a revamped and refreshed Aldi store, designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster, and easier,” said Heather McCarthy, Dwight regional vice president for Aldi, where the Plainfield store is located. “We are always looking out for the needs of our shoppers and decided to move our Plainfield store to allow more room for added fresh, high-quality products at affordable prices, which our loyal shoppers know and love.”   

Ryan Fritsch, Webberville vice president for Aldi, added, “We’re excited to open our first Aldi store in Alpena and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”
