Aldi Expands In California, New Jersey

The new locations are the grocer's first stores in the communities of Shrewsbury (NJ) and Lake Forest (CA).

Aldi has expanded its presence in New Jersey and California.

Aldi recently opened new stores on the east and west coasts and the grocer continue moving forward with its expansion plans.

On Thursday, October 24, the company opened its first location in Shrewsbury, N.J. at 179 Newman Springs Road, while also opening its first store in Lake Forest, Calif., at 23330 El Toro Road. The Shrewsbury store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. while the Lake Forest store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier,” said Bob Grammer, Center Valley vice president for Aldi.  “We’re excited to open our first store in Shrewsbury and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”

As part of this Grand Opening in Lake Forest, Aldi donated $1,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. This donation is part of the grocer’s commitment to donating $150,000 to Feeding America and its network of affiliates through 2024 to help alleviate hunger in local communities. 

Additionally, Aldi will work with Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County to ensure excess grocery items are delivered to the local community through the Feeding America Network. In the past year, Aldi donated 33 million pounds of food to Feeding America partners across the country.
