Albertsons nixes some meal kits

Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons Companies has removed Plated meal kits from its grocery store shelves.

According to a BoiseDev article, the company purchased Plated, a provider of meal kits shipped fresh to customers across the country, back in 2017 -- and then began offering the kits in stores in select markets around the country shortly after the acquisition. It brought them to its home market of Boise last summer, starting with its Broadway store.

“Plated has enjoyed the ability to test and learn on a large scale because of Albertsons Companies expansive footprint that covers a wide range of markets and store brands,” Plated Director of Public Relations Liz Marsh told BoiseDev. “Plated is not currently being offered in Boise stores.”

Marsh said Plated will be offered in “select stores while we temporarily reduce the overall scope of Plated’s retail distribution.”
