Ahold Delhaize streamlines U.S. e-commerce under Peapod name

Leveraging its Peapod online grocery business, Ahold Delhaize USA, owned by Zaandam, the Netherlands-based Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV, has created a digital solutions platfom to drive e-commerce initiatives by consolidating web sales under the Peapod Digital Labs name. A press release announced that the unit is headed by JJ Fleeman, who was named president and chief e-commerce officer of Ahold Delhaize USA.

“Peapod Digital Labs will drive market-leading digital and e-commerce capabilities to power the company's six local brands as they create best-in-class customer experiences," said Fleeman.  “Whether it's searching for inspiration on meals, shopping online or driving digital and personalization in-store, Peapod Digital Labs will enhance the digital experience to the benefit of U.S. consumers." 

The unit was also designed to help strengthen digital and personalization capabilities for the Food Lion, Giant Food, Giant/Martin’s, Hannaford and Stop & Shop supermarket chains, and will oversee online Chicago-based grocery retailer Peapod, the release said.

Ahold Delhaize USA operates several grocery chains, including Stop & Shop and Giant Food, which have their own online sales platforms, but going forward will be consolidated under Peapod.
