Academy Sports + Outdoors Opens New Texas Store

Academy Sports + Outdoors is growing in the state of Texas with the forthcoming opening of its newest store just to the south of Austin in the community of Kyle. The 58,000 square foot location at 5755 Kyle Parkway is the retailer’s fifth new store in 2023. 

Academy grand opening festivities are scheduled to run from Friday, Sept. 22, through Sunday, Sept. 24. 

"As Academy Sports + Outdoors expands in our home state, we are thrilled to bring more sports and outdoor fun to the Kyle community," said Sam Johnson, Academy's executive vice president of Retail Operations. "Whether you're gearing up for a Friday night high school football game, preparing for deer season, or hosting a backyard barbecue, we have something for every member of the family."

Academy offers a broad range of national brands along with a broad assortment of exclusive, private label brands such as Magellan Outdoors, Freely, R.O.W., BCG, H2OX, Redfield, and Mosaic, which cover outdoor apparel and equipment, women's and men's apparel, workout attire, fishing equipment, hunting optics and accessories, and outdoor furniture, respectively.

Academy offers free services such as grill and bike assembly, scope mounting, bore sighting, and line winding/spooling. Customers can also purchase hunting and fishing licenses in the store.

The new Kyle store is part of Academy’s expansion efforts, with the goal of opening a total of 120 to 140 new stores by the end of 2027.
