Academy Sports & Outdoors Expands In Missouri

Academy Sports + Outdoors is opening its 11th location in Missouri, with its new store in Jefferson City. 

The sporting goods retailer will host a weekend of grand opening festivities from Friday, October 20, through Sunday, October 22. The 45,000 square foot store is Academy’s seventh new store in 2023 and keeps the retailer on its goal of opening between 120 and 140 new stores by the end of 2027. 

"Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to bring its newest store to the Jefferson City community as a destination that makes pursuing their sports and outdoors passions easy and affordable," said Sam Johnson, Academy's executive vice president of Retail Operations. "Whether you're gearing up for a Mizzou game, getting hiking essentials, or spending a day fishing the Missouri River, our low prices and assortment of products encourage customers to have fun."

The new store will carry an assortment of national brands and a broad assortment of items sold under various private brands including Magellan Outdoors, Freely, R.O.W., BCG, H2OX, Redfield, and Mosaic. The store brands cover outdoor apparel and equipment, women's and men's apparel, workout attire, fishing equipment, hunting optics and accessories, outdoor furniture, and water gear, respectively.
