Academy Opens First Indianapolis-Area Store

Continuing its rapid growth, Academy Sports + Outdoors is opening its first store in the Indianapolis area, bringing its store total in the Hoosier State to five.

Located at 1960 East Greyhound Pass in Westfield, Ind., the approximately 75,000-square-foot store offers consumers a wide selection of branded and private label sports and outdoors merchandise. Academy’s in-house brands include Magellan Outdoors, Freely, R.O.W., BCG, H2OX, Redfield, Mosaic and O'Rageous, which cover outdoor apparel and equipment, women's and men's apparel, workout attire, fishing equipment, hunting optics, and accessories, outdoor furniture and water gear, respectively.

This marks the third store Academy has opened in 2023. This fall, Academy will also open the state's sixth store in Avon, Ind., with the goal of opening 13 – 15 stores this year, and a total of 120 to 140 new stores by the end of 2027.

Academy will host grand opening festivities from this weekend, Aug. 25 - 27. Throughout the weekend, customers can look forward to exclusive deals and giveaways, special appearances by Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Grover Stewart, renowned competitive eating professional and Indianapolis local Joey Chestnut, Indiana Fever point guard Grace Berger, Major League Fishing pro angler and Indianapolis native Jacob Wheeler and more.

Based in Katy, Texas, Academy operates 271 stores across 18 states.
