Registration for the Store Brands virtual Discovery Day — a combined pitch day and webinar — went live in less than a week and retailers such as Southeastern Grocers, The Fresh Market, Smart & Final, Tops Friendly Markets, Hammer Williams, Stater Brothers, Lowe's and even the online deliverer gopuff are set to attend.

The virtual event is scheduled for Dec. 14 where suppliers and solutions providers across the private label space have an opportunity to present three-minute, pre-recorded videos of popular, best-selling, new or important products for retailer consideration.

The videos run in the virtual theater, and can include companies across food, beverage, nonfood, packaging, supply chain, anything to build up a retailer’s own brand program.  Following the video, a live Q&A with the retailer audience is available.

Educational sessions surrounding the virtual pitch theater include an opening keynote from FMI - The Food Industry Association and insights from its  Power of Private Brands research on e-commerce

Doug Baker, vice president of industry relations, FMI, will be joined by Kathy Kimple, chief retail officer, FitForCommerce, a retail veteran in digital and store operations. Kimple oversaw digital merchandising and ops at such retailers as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Linens N Things ane The Children’s Place. As part of the FMI study on e-commerce, FitForCommerce mystery shopped the online retail locations of stores to see how their private brands measured.

Closing out the day, Shelley Balanko, senior vice president, The Hartman Group, will present findings from the company’s work on private brands, identifying trends and how they shape the future of private brands. Balanko will share insights from the group’s "Brand Ambition" syndicated research.
