Michaels names new CFO

Michaels Co. announced a new chief financial officer, effective next month. Michael Diamond will step in as executive vice president, chief financial officer, bringing with more than 15 years of experience in finance.

Most recently, he served the same role for Pizza Hut, overseeing the chain’s European market. He also served as the chief growth officer for the European and United Kingdom businesses at Pizza Hut. Before that he spent time at Boston Consulting, Svoboda Capital Partners and Merrill Lynch Co.

Diamond will report to Michael’s CEO Ashley Buchanan. Throughout Diamond’s career he has led teams in both the United States and Europe across multiple industry verticals spanning finance, strategy, development, business analysis, supply chain, technology and legal.

“Throughout his career, Mike has demonstrated the ability to streamline and integrate financial operations while successfully moving strategic initiatives forward,” Buchanan said. “His experience will play a pivotal role in supporting our ongoing efforts to position Michaels for sustainable, long-term growth.”
