HomeFree achieves SQF Level 2 certification

By Store Brands - 05/26/2015

HomeFree LLC, a Windham, N.H.-based supplier of allergy-friendly, gluten-free baked goods under its own brand, as well as for retailers' store brand programs and foodservice, said it recently achieved Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 certification by demonstrating exceptional food safety and quality control practices. SQF certification is recognized by retailers and foodservice providers globally that require a rigorous, credible food safety management system. The SQF program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative and links primary production certification to food manufacturing and distribution

SQF certification requires a third-party assessment to verify adherence to the meticulous requirements of the SQF Code. According to HomeFree, ASI Food Safety performed that assessment. Evaluation is conducted on all aspects of a company’s food safety and quality management program. SQF certification validates the programs that HomeFree has in place, as well as the continuous monitoring procedures of those programs.

“HomeFree already was recognized as a pioneer and a leader in baked goods allergen safety," said Jill Robbins, HomeFree's founder and CEO. "To my knowledge, HomeFree is now also the first allergy-friendly baked goods company to achieve SQF certification.

"The SQF certification validates our allergy program, while additionally validating the outstanding quality of our food safety program more widely,” she added. “Our employees have reason to be very proud!”

HomeFree cookies have received numerous awards and accolades for their great taste, as well as for their inclusiveness of consumers with most special diets, including peanut-/nut-free, gluten-free, vegan, kosher pareve, whole grain and non-GMO. In fact, the company noted that HomeFree cookies were recommended by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute as the “Best Gluten Free Cookies” nationally.
